Dangerously Dumb

If you watch the news you may have seen CNN’s Jim Acosta make a fool out of himself, and be made a fool of, at a White House press briefing recently. In response to Steven Miller’s announcement of Trump’s plan for reforming legal immigration , Jim decided to try for a YouTube moment……..which he got, just not the one he wanted. Acosta attempted to quote the poem associated with the Statue of Liberty as immigration law, and argued his partisan resistance to such stipulations as speaking English and having a way to support yourself by………wait for it……..barfing up platitudes and 3rd grade logic……..like every other Progressive I’ve ever had the misfortune of listening to.  The problem is, it’s not just him.

Chris Cuomo, the mental giant whom is not a beneficiary of political/corporate nepotism in the least, went on his Fakebook page to present a video of himself explaining what a racist I am, and by extension anyone who agrees with the merit-based plan, and how – by his estimation – none of our ancestors would have made the cut. There are many Progressives in the Kabuki Theater of the 2 party system spewing this nonsense……..I’m just picking on these two guys because they perfectly illustrate my internal debate: Is their dishonesty purposeful, or are they all complete effing idiots? I’ll make a confession here……I used to think it was intentional intellectual dishonesty, and for some of the players in D.C. and New York it is…..but for the talking heads on TV I now believe, nay I know……that they are complete morons. I mean it. They are as dumb as a box of doorknobs…….completely ignorant of civics, the formation and organization of law and government, and even the fairly recent history and culture of the very country that they were bred from and now unfortunately inhabit.

It’s not a lot of people’s fault, really. I have no doubt that if I had gone to college, or was perhaps a decade younger, that my exposure to Identity/Victimhood Politics would have been much greater. In fact, in hindsight I feel blessed to have been born into what I consider The Last Age Of America…….and I feel pity for those that have been on the receiving end of Collectivist/Socialist/Social Justice indoctrination…..until they become extremely loud and ironically intolerant, which they usually do.

So, for the good of my argument, let’s talk about the famous poem that our self-described “betters” think is United States Immigration Law and Policy. The poem reads as you’ve heard ( I won’t dedicate the space to it here, feel free to look it up ), with references to “bringing….your tired, your poor…..your huddled masses yearning to be free”……..all that stuff, and that’s all great. It’s a nice poem. A nice poem that isn’t part of the Statue of Liberty, not engraved on the statue, or even a design of the artist and architect that brought Lady Liberty to life. It’s a nice poem given by friends of the poet – during a time when money was being raised for the construction of the pedestal and museum at the base of the statue. Until 1986 it rested inside the pedestal building, and since then is located in the museum. It is not United States Law. It is not United States Immigration Policy. In fact, the poem is completely incongruous to the designer’s intent. You see, Lady Liberty is stepping forward, away from our shores……leading her lamp to light the other nations of the world, inspiring within them the fire of individual freedom and independence. But according to our Progressive friends, she’s actually holding out her arms, food stamps in one hand and government check in the other, to receive the illiterate and intolerant masses of the third world……with the check picked up by you and your racist, privileged offspring.

The Cuomos and Acostas of the world are just too damned stupid to know, and therefore are incapable of telling you. Have they told you that previous immigration waves in the United States went on with strict guidelines, or that conditions like a hernia in the groin, or a suspicious cough, were enough to get you put back on the boat? How about that until the last few decades of Progressive control of immigration there was no welfare or public assistance available to immigrants, legal or not?   So, when Chris Cuomo sites his Italian-immigrant ancestors, he evidently doesn’t realize that they were dependent on personal responsibility and self-reliance, and ultimately assimilation, in order to become successful. Does he display the Italian flag at his home? Do he and his children speak English and celebrate American customs? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

What else are the Media and Political Elite really, really dumb about? Worse, how many people tune into them and actually believe the bullsqueeze they’re selling? Do you think they know what they’re talking about when they spend months obsessing on Russia? When they talk about how our government works, and how the President is supposed to behave, do they really know? When they tell you what to believe, do you listen? When they say what is a threat to you and what will benefit you, are they lying about it……….or making it up? We are in a strange place in time, for sure. The people who run the world have done so for generations, and have succeeded because of their toadies and willing accomplices in the “press”, who controlled what you saw and under what circumstances you saw it. Those days cannot end fast enough………because the dumbness of those with the duty of informing us has become dangerous.

” You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state” – Milton Freidman

“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” – Theodore Roosevelt
