The Circle and the Straight Line

As the Western World continues to lose its collective mind with Progressivism, a question keeps pinging around my brain: Why are so many people falling for things that are nuts? The reasons are many, but in my opinion, it all goes back to education. When I say “education”, I mean in the classical sense……not the “humanities”, or “gender/ethnic studies”, but a classical education that focuses on examining the past in a dry, objective manner. Why? Because people, especially the young, seem to be operating under a dangerous delusion: That technology, advancement, and human nature/behavior all follow the same pattern…….and they don’t.

Time and history…..including the advancement of human technological skill…..follow a linear, straight line. Events, time, and the people involved move forward on that line as history progresses. I’ll give you an example: since the IPhone was invented and introduced to the public, each year or so a newer, better, “smarter” device is designed and released. Same thing with other technologies…….advancement moves in a straight line, and an expectation of this linear progress becomes ingrained.  Still with me?

You could almost forgive someone who is the product of a postmodern education for applying this thought process onto human nature, and in turn behavior, if it wasn’t so wrong. See, human nature is a circle, not a line. While time, technology, and events move forward on that inevitable line, human nature revolves around like a wagon wheel. The wheel spins from barbarism to enlightenment, from enlightenment to apathy, from apathy to slavery, and then back to barbarism……then it spins again…..and again…..and on into perpetuity.  Only people who are completely unaware of this fact, and of history, insist on their philosophy of “social justice”. The human beings who inhabited ancient Greece, Rome, Minoa, Egypt, and even older places like Gobekli Tepe were just as, if not more, clever and thoughtful than modern people. Reading the philosophies of Socrates and Marcus Aurelius, or perusing the historical accounts of Josephus or Thucydides, would quickly dissolve the illusion that human beings and their “new ideas” are new at all.

So why do so many people think they hold a moral high ground by virtue signaling and proposing toxic ideas like the “patriarchy” and “privilege”? Why do Progressives not understand they are just spinning the wheel of human nature back to tribal barbarism?  Because ignorance is bliss. Its much easier and kinder on the ego to assume that you, as a modern Western human, are the apex of progress. You know what those that came before did not. You and your fellow Progressive travelers can ignore the wisdom of your ancestors because they didn’t have an IPhone and a Fakebook account. In fact, those that came before were Neanderthal morons who judged people by their skin color or ethnicity, and none of them tackled things like racism, inequality and global commerce. Because human thought and civilization is a straight line moving ever forward……just like my laptops processing power…….right?

This is why there are many people out there who want to erase and control the past……..because if you are ignorant of it, you can be shaped into whatever those people want. If you have no knowledge of your ancestral and philosophical inheritance, then you will never know anything, really. The only way to slow the spinning wheel of human nature is to be cognizant of its existence. Wallowing in the false security of the straight line of progress will rapidly lead to an escalation of our collective madness. It has happened before, and it will happen again………and knowing that is an absolute imperative.
