Fool Me Twice

Once again, if you believe what the Establishment is selling, the Assad regime in Syria has “gassed its own people”. In my opinion this is probably total hogwash. Assad is many things…..but suicidal? Again? This has happened before, and guess what? It always seems to happen right when the Western World is tired of being involved in Syria’s civil war. It also seems to happen after U.S. neocon politicians make a visit there, or make threats about what will happen if we leave. Something doesn’t smell right.  Are we to trust and believe the evil creatures that populate America’s “intelligence agencies”? You know, the people who tried to overthrow an American election, and when that didn’t work, an elected president? Are we to believe the heinous Assad regime? The Russians? The Israelis? None of the above, thank you.

I don’t care what you think about Syria, or how awful Assad is. Before this “war”, Islam and its Sharia barbarism was not the law in Syria, a rarity in the Middle East.   In fact, since America’s intelligence agencies can’t be trusted….and guys like John McCain – the leading proponent of military involvement – definitely can’t be trusted……it is folly to make any determination about Syria. In five years of discussing this topic, I have yet to find anyone – hawk or dove – that can explain to me how its any of the United States’ business. Besides, in case you missed it, the U.S. loses it’s proxy wars with Russia, which is what we’re discussing. Vietnam, Korea…..how’d they work out? Are the Vietnamese free? Are the North Koreans? I guess you could make the case that South Korea is doing awesome….but why? Could it be the safety, security, and billions of dollars that the South Koreans enjoy at America’s expense? Call me cruel, but I get tired of seeing glittering cities bought with American lives and tax dollars while the cities of the United States turn into fetid wastelands.

It would be laughable from a disinterested distance. The U.S. sends billions in aid and arms to assist invaders in Syria and foment a civil war…….while it enjoys open borders and a foreign invasion numbering in the tens of millions to its own shores. Under that logic, maybe Syria should be arming and supplying South and Central American illegals as they occupy and alter the landscape of the United States. Maybe Syria should fund the caravan of future California voters headed to the States. Who knows, maybe they are.  And why not? Are we not involved in the same thing around the world? If you don’t think so, then I have some bridges for sale.

Syria sucks. It’s sad, really, when you look at the role it has played historically throughout the millennia. Truthfully, the same could be said about Lebanon…….a place, like Syria, that was ruled by a moron and murderer……but a comparably reasonable one compared to the Caliphate. Did we learn nothing from Iraq?  When one ponders these things, they are left with the question: Why are we involved? Whose side are we on? Are the machinations of people with whom you have no involvement with, in their own nation, our concerns? Would we find it acceptable for another nation to play a role – much less a direct military one – in our affairs? If California seceded from the United States…….would you accept their reinforcement from a hostile and nuclear China?

The sad truth is that tragedies happen the world over. We cannot expect to be the policemen of the world. The United States is overrun with its own invasion…..and in it’s own sort of civil war……divided between those that cry for restricting Speech and Inalienable Rights, and those that stubbornly cling to them. Between those that want truth, transparency, and representation….and those who lie, cheat, and steal in pursuit of their ends. We have plenty of problems to deal with, and plenty of unrest here at home. I have looked for a reason to go “fix” Syria instead of ourselves……and I can’t find it.  unnecessary and unproductive foreign wars undertaken by Empires on the brink of collapse are the disastrous stuff of history and legend. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling a war in Syria.
