Presidential Trump

Watching last night’s address to a joint session of congress, I couldn’t help but cheer. Not because it was full of partisan hackery, but because, perhaps, it was a speech of monumental importance. If the United States wasn’t mired in the Establishment’s war against common interests and sense, last night’s address would have been the most non-partisan, pro-American, and heartfelt platform of an elected president in my lifetime.

There was much to agree with if you are a republican or libertarian……..and really, much to agree with if you are a democrat, also. Lowering taxes, eliminating burdensome regulations, a non-suicidal immigration policy, making education local, a goal of 4 percent GDP-after 8 years of 1.8 percent GDP* on average (*realclearmarkets.com) from Obama. And yes, that rate places Obama’s economic performance at 4th from the bottom of all presidents – even though we’ve been told how awesome Barry was at everything, right?

If you identify as a fiscal conservative you may have some trepidation about infrastructure spending, yet you must acknowledge that our roads, bridges, energy systems, and water projects haven’t been upgraded or maintained since our grandfathers built them. California’s Oroville Dam almost failing recently is a prime example of how we have wasted money on welfare for non-citizens and stupid global warming initiatives instead of infrastructure. Call me naive, but with Trump in charge I actually think we will do the things we need to do domestically without filling lobbyists’ pockets with more tax cash, but we’ll see.

All things considered, it is going to become harder and harder for members of both Establishment parties to demonize president Trump while sitting on their hands. It is already obvious that the republican congress is responsible for slow-walking Trump’s agenda, and that whatever initiative stalls will be directly tied to them. At the same time, no matter what the media tells you, the democrat party is on it’s deathbed…….and if it caters to the 25 percent of the population that echoes CNN and Hollywood’s sentiments, it’s life support will fail. The American public will grow angry, instead of just tired, of the black-hooded, safe-space, social-justice-warrior goons demanding an end to free speech.

The only real opposition to what the president laid out last night is, and will continue to be, the “NeverTrump” republicans and neocon has-beens.  Do not be fooled…….the same people who fought Trump’s nomination and then his election are still fighting him now…..and we know them well. They are the John McCain republicans, the Bushes and anyone tied to them…..they are the advocates of amnesty, NAFTA and the TPP, and are still as convinced as ever that Globalism and importing the world’s poor are the keys to success. They are bought and paid for by the same interests that have bought and paid for the democrat party, and if Trump’s agenda fails, it will be because of their quiet sedition – not the loud, treasonous braying of the left.

The more that Trump delivers like he did last night, the more people will start to ask themselves why they have been against his ideas…..and then, hopefully, the next question becomes,  “what are the motives of those that have been trying to convince me to reject policies that benefit us all?”.  Well……I won’t hold my breath on that one, but it never hurts to be optimistic. Smart opponents to Trump became very fearful last night…….as painting him as an insane, self-serving dictator just became that much harder, and that much sillier. In summation, last night was what Americans needed………and what Trump needed as well.

“He became president of the United States in that moment, period………..that was one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics. Period. He did something extraordinary…….For people who have been hoping that he would become unifying, hoping that he might find some way to become presidential, they should be happy with that moment. For people who have been hoping that maybe he would remain…divisive…. they should begin to become a little bit worried tonight.” – Van Jones

Ted Don’t Go Away Mad, Just Go Away

Over the past several months, I have spent much time and energy trying to talk some sense into those that backed Sen. Ted Cruz. I have endured the sanctimonious musings of people like Glenn Beck, Erick Erickson, and Mark Levin ( whom I once had great respect for ). Well, after the display of naked ambition that Cruz put on last night. …..no more. Cruz and his hyperventilating adherents have become the gangrenous foot withering on the body of this election cycle, and it’s time for amputation.

I’ve been hard on Cruz and his cult, and last night put to rest any reservations I may have held in castigating them. What I witnessed last night was an Obama-esque delivery of focus group formulated phraseology, meaningless twaddle, and empty euphemisms. It’s as if a focus group gave Ted a list to read of slogans designed to puff up his own ego and get his base foaming, as if they weren’t already. Oh wait, that’s exactly what he did.

Ted Cruz has benefited from talk radio advertising for somewhere at least six hours a day, five days a week, since he started his “pre-ordained” power grab…….yet he lost. But like all egomaniacal Harvard Law creations, Cruz chose to ignore the will of the people in favor of the pursuit of power.

This morning,  Ted’s own Texas delegates asked him about keeping his word and saying “this is not about Heidi,  or your Dad, or you……it’s about America”….. that’s when the FrankenBush creation bared his teeth and let the supposed real reason fly for his self servicing speech. Because mean old Trump “attacked my wife and my Dad”. So in other words,  everything he said on the convention floor was bullsqueeze.

Trump at least had the stones to say what he said himself, as opposed to Cruz – who had his surrogates do his dirty work for him – all the while never condemning those doing that work. At the same time, many in the Cruz camp turned a willful blind eye to his fraudulent mailers, sabotage of Carson,  and manipulating state conventions to “win” without hearing the voice of the voters. Frankly I’m pretty tired of the self righteous pap. Nevertrumpers, and their leader, both have begun to sound incredibly melodramatic while patting themselves on the back for being such “principled” martyrs.  The bottom line is this: Ted Cruz was never going to win. Ever. If not for Trump we’d have Jeb! as the nominee……of that I have no doubt.

All those in the nevertrump camp are predicting a Trump loss while pretending to not be actively working towards it. They are exactly the same as the opposition party they are assisting,  and if they expect millions to forget their actions and turn out to vote for one of them in four years,  they are mistaken.

Go Ahead with Your Own Life, Leave Me Alone

You know, I hate to sound like a jerk, but shut up ex-presidents and veeps. Shut up Congress. In fact, if you work for a creepy, bloated government agency, or a creepy, bloated network, just shut up. I don’t need alot of protection from people in other parts of the world that I will never meet. I need to be protected FROM YOU. Listening to all of these wise people tell me they need to shield me from everything that could possibly cause me harm, I now realize that I am a moron. Replace my knives and forks with soft rubber sporks, because I might stab myself in my tiny little brain.

I realize that many folks that I respect, who aren’t dummies or drinking any parties’ Kool-Aid, strongly disagree with my logic on this, but……No one has a right to throw my liberty in the dustbin to “keep me safe’. I don’t care if we’re talking about automobiles, airport security, electronic communication or phone calls. Let me ask you this…. can I read your mail, look at your text messages and cellphone pictures? Can I come in your house while you’re gone and go through your drawers? Can I search your car? How about your kids if you’ve got ’em…. can I look through their stuff? Your husbands? Wives? Well Why not?

I’m a nice guy. I’m reasonably intelligent and I have your best interests at heart, I promise. With all due respect to our police and military ( who do a very difficult, underpaid job ), they are just people. The Elites inside the Washington beltway, some of who have been there three or more decades, are just people too. Granted they are freakish in many ways, they are still just folks like you and me (with power and millions of dollars). So if you wouldn’t want me to be a Peeping Tom in your family’s home and life, why allow countless, nameless others to be?

While we’re at it, what is safe? You could, while reading this, choke on your coffee or have an embolism. Some jerk could run off the road in a Hummer and barrel through your crib, not only ruining your flat screen, but ruining you as well. With all the threats to our well-being, it’s a miracle any of us survive long enough to fill a diaper. I could put you in an air-filtered, armored box and deliver your checked and approved meals to you. I would listen to your calls, read your mail, and give you your medication. I’d even provide for your healthcare. You’d be pretty safe then, right? Hey…… wait a second. That’s prison. I haven’t met many people who have been and called it a safe place, liked it, or wanted to return.

The world I grew up in is unfortunately gone. That statement is made worse by the fact that I’m really not that old .To give you an idea, I will have to pay full price for coffee at MickeyDees for another twenty years. Some of that change is, of course, inevitable. Technology has altered every aspect of our lives at a much more rapid pace than I can believe, and the pitfalls are as numerous as the benefits. The argument I run into the most is the technology problem. I will sum it up like this…… if you post pictures of your junk on Facespace or Mybook, then you made a decision to do so. Having that photo archived by the federal government is not your decision. See, we make a choice to use technology such as Google or Yahoo. We DO NOT make the choice to have that information compiled by Uncle Sam.

Here’s the rub….we are guaranteed Freedom of Speech by the Constitution. That right is recognized by the document, but granted by the Creator. If you know that your speech is cataloged and used against you at a later date, depending on your political persuasion, I can absolutely say with certainty that you will watch what you say. That is a de-facto infringement on our freedom of speech. When you’re afraid that what you say will come back to bite you, then you just might not say it in the first place. So, if you want to submit your speech to the Feds to keep you safe, so be it, just don’t ask, or force, me to. In other words, go ahead with your own life, leave me alone. ( Thanks, Billy Joel )
